Our first night at the Best Western Alamogordo motel, the staff didn’t treat us very well. This occurred during our September visit on the way back from Santa Fe to Tucson. No sooner had I gotten my bath than water started to leak down from the ceiling. The rug was getting inundated. We had to be transferred to the room next door. When I told the front desk on the phone that their maintenance was shoddy, they said they’d either transfer me or check me out. They hung up on me. I had to call back. They didn’t issue any credit for that horrible inconvenience. On top of that they dared to complain about our cat when they didn’t tell us what their pet policy was when we made the reservation! It also contradicts their policy just two years before when we stayed here with two cats and a dog. There is a sign in their lobby which says they are pet-friendly and doesn't specifically exclude cats, which could lead to confusion. I’ll certainly never stay here again. But since there aren't that many pet-friendly motels in Alamogordo that probably means I can't come to Alamogordo again. I'll have to stay in Las Cruces and visit White Sands from there even though the drive will be a lot longer.
We had other complaints, too. The maids continually parked their carts right in front of our door, blocking us from loading and unloading. There was also an extra $20.00 fee that was never explained. They threw the wet rug yanked out of the evacuated room outside in the parking lot. They never picked it up and carted it off the whole time we were there. Is this what a visitor has to put up with to stay in a room only minutes from White Sands?
Tip: If you stay on the second floor at least you can't have a plumbing disaster where water leaks into your room from the ceiling.
